Feedback on the Annual Report on the Situation of Asylum in the EU... Did you make it on time?

As our readers know, last Friday (30 August) was the last day of the deadline to send feedback to the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) ‘Annual Report on the Situation of Asylum in the European Union 2012’ (see also our earlier post).

Have you sent any suggestions you’d like to share with us?

We have sent our feedback to EASO, which you can find on our website - under ‘Publications’ (or click the image below for a direct link to the document).

Essentially, we reiterated (again...) that more clarity is needed in the cooperation with civil society, we called for the completeness of information in the Sections of the Report concerning the new Asylum Package as well as the Operating Plans concluded with some Member States and we pointed out that the Report should also have aimed at identifying needed improvements.

Finally, we also expressed our concern towards the way EASO referred to some sensitive issues in the Annual Report, such as the collectivisation of the Western Balkan countries and the extensive use of the word “abuse”.

In case you haven’t read the Report yet, you can read a summary in the July/August Newsletter (see our previous post) or in the
European Council on Refugees and Exiles Weekly Bulletin of 12 July.
