EASO & further solidarity measures


On 2nd December the Commission announced that it continues to stress the importance of asylum solidarity between EU MS.

Europe needs better cooperation and stronger solidarity between EU states when helping refugees and handling asylum applications.”



The statement lists four priority areas the Commission will focus on in attempting to improve solidarity efforts.  Practical cooperation and technical assistance, including that through the European Asylum Support Office is one of these main proprieties. 

Together with this, the Commission lists improving tools for governance of the asylum system and setting up of a new Migration and Asylum Fund as of 2014.
