On 19th and 20th September EASO's Management Board will be meeting for the fourth time, in Malta's capital Valletta.
It looks like the programme will be quite an ambitious one, attempting to cover almost all Agency aspects including:
- Various substantive updates (Greek Action Plan, COI Portal, Consultative Forum, Annual Report, European Asylum Curriculum); and
- Administrative elements (2011 Work Programme and Budget, 2011 - 2013 staffing; access to EASO documents).
These will all be interesting discussions since this is the point when the Management Board will start the process of formulating the parameters within which the entire Office will be able to operate: the Executive Director and the various departments; the Consultative Forum; the asylum support teams and essentially any third party interacting with the Agency.
Despite having had a fruitful meeting with Visser, we're concerned that so far the Commission and EASO have not been too forthcoming with information disclosure. Given the extent of discussions to be held next week, we would like to strongly recommend the issuing of a press statement following this and all subsequent Management Board Meetings.
(for a reminder on the Management Board's composition see the 'What is EASO?' page).
