Visser on gender and FGM issues in EASO's work

A recent newsletter from Amnesty International’s END FGM European Campaign included a reference to EASO in the context of Visser’s hearing at LIBE Committee (Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs) of the European Parliament, immediately after his appointment by the Management Board.

During the hearing, Visser was asked to comment on the “implementation of the UNHCR guidelines and guidance note on FGM and integration of a gender focus in the work plan and structure of the EASO.” The question was raised by MEP Emine Bozkurt.

According to the newsletter, Visser replied by stating that gender issues are already integrated in Country of Origin Information and in the EU Asylum Curriculum, and that gender issues ought to be also included at the MS policy level.

It’s not clear if this response was a satisfactory one for the END FGM, as no comments are provided.
