Unsurprisingly, it looks like recruitment was high on the second Management Board meeting’s agenda. Following the call for Seconded National Experts, there is a now rumour that in June the Commission will publish 49 external vacancies.
What form will EASO recruitment take? Probably on the same lines as Frontex and the Fundamental Rights Agency, and if you check out their recruitment pages you’ll notice that they generally recruit staff in the form of either SNE’s or Temporary Agents. There is ample information available on the nature of Temporary Agent contracts, requirements, salaries, etc.
I am in no position to confirm or deny this rumour, yet it is a fact that the Office must be up and running very soon. The premises are not 100% complete, with further structural arrangements being made for them to meet the Commission’s requirements. And without office space it is of course pretty futile to embark on a recruitment exercise. It is envisaged that the Executive Director and the SNE’s, probably together with a some administrative support, will either sit in Brussels or in a temporary site to be identified by the Maltese government.
